TrackingCoupon codes

Coupon codes

Give each affiliate a code their customers can use at checkout. A code assigned to one affiliate can track a purchase without a referral link.

Shared codes work differently. A code for all affiliates or one group gives the same discount to everyone. The customer still needs a referral link so we know which affiliate to credit.

Create a code

Only the program owner can create or change Stripe codes.

  1. Open Integrations and connect Stripe.
  2. Open Coupon codes.
  3. Choose Create in Stripe.
  4. Choose all affiliates, one affiliate, or one group.
  5. Enter a code, such as JAMIE20. Use letters, numbers or hyphens.
  6. Choose a percentage or a fixed amount.
  7. Choose once, forever, or a set number of months.
  8. Click Save coupon.

Fixed discounts use your program’s currency. The code card shows who can share it, its discount and its state.

Owner creates a coupon

Use a code you already have

Choose Link an existing Stripe code. Enter the code and its promotion code ID from Stripe. That ID starts with promo_.

The code must be active in the connected Stripe account. Its currency must match the program. Referral Bear reads the discount and duration from Stripe. A code can only have one assignment in a program.

Pick a Stripe coupon

Choose Use an existing Stripe coupon. Pick a discount from your connected Stripe account and enter the new code. Referral Bear creates a promotion code for that discount. The discount and duration stay the same. Use Load more Stripe coupons if you do not see the one you need.

Save a code without syncing

Choose Save without syncing. Enter the assignment, code, discount and duration. This saves the code in Referral Bear only. Create the same code in Stripe yourself before you share it.

Referral Bear checks the code text on the paid Stripe event. It does not guess from what the customer typed on your own website.

Disable code tracking hides a manual code and stops new customer attribution through it. This does not disable the code in Stripe. Existing referred customers can still earn renewal commissions. Manage the discount in Stripe when you want to stop people using it at checkout.

View code totals

Click View code totals to see the number of customers, revenue after refunds, and pending or approved commissions after reversals. Rejected commissions are left out. These totals use payments recorded with this code; they do not include old records that have no code attached.

Find your code as an affiliate

Open your affiliate portal and choose coupons. You can see your own active codes, shared program codes and codes for your group.

Give customers the code shown on the card. For a shared code, send your referral link too.

Turn a code off

Click Disable Stripe code on its card. This also disables the code in Stripe. It stops new use of that code and hides it from the affiliate portal. It does not remove past discounts, purchases or commissions. Existing subscriptions can keep their discount and earn renewal commissions.

Use Enable Stripe code to turn it on again. Stripe may reject this if a code has expired or reached its use limit.

Check the commission

Stripe must send the paid event. The affiliate and program must be active, and a commission flow must match the payment. The commission uses the amount paid after the discount.

If a customer is already assigned to a different affiliate, the event stops for review. Open Stripe events to see the reason. A repeated event does not add another commission.

Fix a problem

  • Connect Stripe first: save your Stripe connection in Integrations.
  • Retry sync: the first save did not finish. Retry uses the same draft so it does not create another code.
  • Remove draft: removes an unfinished local draft. Any code already created in Stripe stays there. You can link it again with its promotion ID.
  • Retry Stripe change: the result of a status change is not yet known. Wait one minute, then retry the same change.
  • Stripe rejected this request: review the code in Stripe, then start a new change.
  • Code already assigned: use the code that is already saved, or choose another code.

Use Load more codes to view the next page of codes.
