TrackingReferred customers

Manage referred customers

Referrals lists the customers linked to affiliates. An affiliate is the person who referred someone; a customer is the person they referred.

Add a customer by hand

  1. Open Referrals and choose Create.
  2. Pick the affiliate and enter the customer’s Name.
  3. Enter Your customer identifier. Use the stable ID from your own app.
  4. Set the signup date if the customer joined earlier. Leave it blank to use today. The form uses your local time.
  5. Choose the customer status. Add their contact email, Stripe customer ID and Stripe subscription ID if you have them.
  6. Save and find the row. To record a payment, open Transactions and choose Create manual transaction.

Add a referred customer with a signup date, status and subscription ID

Only enter a Stripe ID you have checked. For website signups, use the server tracking steps instead of asking the browser to choose its customer identity.

Adding a lead or trial customer can run signup commission rules. An active customer already pays, so adding one does not earn a signup reward. Canceled and suspended customers do not earn a signup reward and block new payments until you restore them.

Edit or pause a customer

Use Edit details to fix their name or contact email. Use Update status to suspend or restore the customer. Suspension blocks new commissions; it keeps past records.

Editing contact details does not move the customer to another affiliate or change their stable ID. The app does not offer a complete customer deletion workflow.

Affiliates only see their own referrals. Customer emails and payment IDs are hidden in the affiliate portal. Owners can choose whether customer names are shown in Program settings.

Import a customer from Stripe

Only a program owner can import customers. Connect Stripe first.

  1. Open Referrals and choose Import customer.
  2. Pick an active affiliate.
  3. Enter the Stripe customer ID or email. An email must match just one Stripe customer.
  4. Choose the status for a new customer. Saved customers keep their current details.
  5. Turn on Import past payments and run commission rules if you want their payment history.
  6. Choose Preview import. Check the customer, paid amount, refunds and rules.
  7. Choose Import customer, then Refresh imports to check progress.

The preview does not add a customer or payments. It expires after ten minutes.

Past payments run your current commission rules. They can create commissions. If another provider already paid or owes these commissions, use the migration import to bring over those balances.

Payments run from oldest to newest. Free invoices do not count as paid payments. Refunds reduce the reward. A payment already saved does not earn a second reward. If its saved totals differ from Stripe, the import stops for review.

If rules change during an import, check them and choose Retry with current rules. A paused program or suspended customer must be restored first. Blocked referrals do not count as a finished import.

This import supports Stripe customers with up to 200 payments in the program currency. It stops when Stripe history is incomplete or a payment cannot be matched safely. Standalone charges do not include product details, so product rules may need review. Paddle and Chargebee customer imports are not available yet.
